At an extraordinary meeting of the TVET Coalition, held on 9 February 2021, Mr. Ngolo Thomas Katta, Commissioner of the National Youth Commission (NAYCOM), Sierra Leone, was elected Chairman of the newly elected Steering Committee.
Mr. Katta succeeds Mr. Christopher Forster, President of Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, whose term of office has come to its end.
Ngolo Thomas Katta holds a Master of Arts Conflict Peace and Security (MCPS4) from the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Centre KAIPTC and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration GIMPA Ghana, a Post-graduate Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development SARD from the Imperial College (University of London), a Bachelor of Science in General Agriculture from Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone, a certificate in Civil-military relations from the Center for Civil-military relations Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, a certificate in youth development from the Bavarian Farmers Association training center – Munich, a certificate in enhancing critical skills in the fight against corruption from Crown Agents, London, and a certificate in Conflict prevention for West African civilian actors. He also completed civilian course on ECOWAS election observation at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping training Centre. He is a semi facilitator for the BRIDGE Course in Africa and has been an International Elections Observer for ECOWAS, AU, etc. in many African countries for the past Ten years. He is also founding member and Former Executive Director for Centre for Coordination of Youth Activities (CCYA).
The TVET Coalition aims to jointly support the TVET system of Sierra Leone in delivering its mandate with the overarching objective of improving the employability of TVET graduates in Sierra Leone. In doing so, the Coalition also intends to create an environment that promotes the development of the private sector in Sierra Leone and positions the country as an attractive investment destination.
